In Nigeria, millions of children in underserved communities face significant barriers to accessing quality education. For many, the inability to afford basic learning materials, such as books and writing tools, limits their ability to fully participate in school. Without these fundamental resources, their potential to develop into future leaders is greatly hindered, and their dreams of a brighter future are put at risk. Recognizing this pressing need, OneAfricanChild launched Project 10,000, an initiative aimed at providing 10,000 essential educational materials to students in underserved communities. The goal is simple but powerful: equip these children with the tools they need to succeed in their academic journeys and beyond.

Recently, OneAfricanChild organized a special event at Isrina Schools in Ajegunle, Lagos, as part of the ongoing Project 10,000 initiative. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as 120 students gathered on the assembly ground, warmly welcoming the familiar faces of the volunteers. During the event, 528 key learning materials—including books, pens, pencils, sharpeners, and erasers—were distributed to students from nursery to Basic 5. In addition, the teachers were gifted writing materials to support their efforts in nurturing the minds of their students. For the children, the sight of brand-new supplies was a source of immense joy, and it reinforced their desire to come to school each day prepared to learn and grow.
The impact of Project 10,000 has been profound. By providing these educational materials, OneAfricanChild has not only restored hope to students but also ignited their enthusiasm for learning. The tools have given them the confidence to attend school regularly and pursue their dreams with renewed determination. Furthermore, the project supports teachers in their mission to provide quality education, helping them to effectively engage with their students and foster an environment that promotes 21st-century learning.

As Project 10,000 continues to expand, OneAfricanChild aims to reach more schools and students in need. With the ongoing support of donors and volunteers, this initiative will help bridge the educational gap for thousands of underserved children, ensuring that no child is left behind in the pursuit of knowledge. The project serves as a powerful reminder that small acts of generosity can have a lasting impact, empowering the next generation to realize their full potential and become change-makers in their communities.
