Tell us about yourself

I am Jeffrey K. Kosgei an economist, educator, environmentalist and volunteer passionate about children and youth.

What would constitute a perfect day for you?

A perfect day for me is when I realize the small tasks I set for the day though many a times I might not realize this, it doesn’t dampen my spirit so long as I put effort I am contented.

Why did you decide to join OAC?

I was already volunteering by the time I joined OAC but I needed a platform to formalize my engagements. OAC proved to be the best opportunity I not only identified with its mission and vision but also with the young people who are well equipped and ready to bring forth change within their community and beyond. My journey begun when I came across Victoria on opportunity desk as a young person of the month, I definitely knew OAC is where I belonged.

What is one of your favorite OAC memories?

Well, it is said that memories do not just happen but are made and for me this happens when we get out there to touch lives during our projects. I will always cherish our first project at Mary Immaculate in 2015 despite being few our session with former street boys set pace for us. Their smiles sticks in my mind and warms my heart.

What professional skills and leadership goals have you developed and strengthened since joining OAC?

I have learnt a lot being a volunteer with OAC that has fortified my leadership skills, and networking for meaningful partnerships stands out. I have learnt that bringing together different perspectives in addressing challenges we face in our community, yields more positive outcome.

What do you feel most grateful for in life?

That I am not only touching lives but doing so together with other young people, means we going far.

What are you looking forward to in the future (maybe in the next 5 years)?

Yes, it is my prayer that at end of five years I can look back and say I have done my best in all the spheres of my life.

Which book are you reading now?

Habits of highly effective people authored by Stephen R Covey.

What is your favorite quote?

There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return.  ~ Nelson Mandela

Parting Words

There is no perfect time to touch or impact someone’s life, you have to do it immediately even if you don’t have resources to do so, it begins with caring and ends with caring!
