VOLUNTEERS TUESDAY: MEET CAROLINE BORAYA
Tell us about yourself
Caroline Boraya is a social entrepreneur who is passionate about youth, women, and children.
What drives you in life?
I believe my best drive has always been the thirst to do more and better each day. I wake up each morning wanting to do more and go beyond where I was the previous day.
If you were to have superpowers, what would it be?
I would wish to have the power to heal. It breaks my heart seeing people ailing and in pain. I would want to take away that pain.
From your engagement with OAC, it is evident that children hold a special place in your heart. Please share with us your journey as an OAC volunteer.
Since I met Victoria Ibiwoye at the Africa Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, I fell in love with OAC from her story. So when the call for volunteers came up, I jumped in and signed up.
I must admit that it has been life-changing. The sessions I have attended with OAC has always left me inspired. Seeing the children excited and passing down knowledge to them is satisfactory.
What are the vital lessons that you have picked up so far?
I was recently elected to be in charge of Programmes. This has been a learning curve for me, getting to coordinate with the team and plan for activities. I have gained more skills on project planning and execution.
What would you desire to see happening in the lives of children in the society?
I would love to see a society where all children have equal access to basic needs.
What are you doing as an individual to achieve that purpose?
Being part of OAC is a stepping stone to actualizing this vision. Changing and impacting one child at a time, one community at a time.
What’s your favorite quote?
I am, therefore we are.
Never get tired of doing good.
